Ready Set Surgery
BOOKLET
This booklet is here to help you get ready for your surgery by making healthy lifestyle changes. Before surgery, you can improve your health in simple ways, like eating well, exercising more, stop smoking, and cutting back on alcohol. Making these lifestyle changes can help lower the chances of medical problems during and after your surgery. We want to help you get well faster, and feel better about your surgery and hospital stay.
Ageing well: understanding frailty
FACT-SHEET
Frailty is when your body is weaker and less able to bounce back after getting sick, an injury or having surgery. It’s not just because you are getting older. It happens because of things like not eating well, not moving enough, or having long-term sickness. Knowing if you have frailty helps your doctor take better care of you.
Shared Decision-Making (SDM)
LEAFLET
It can be hard to decide whether to have a surgery, procedure, or medical treatment. Sometimes there’s more than one option, and each has its own benefits and risks.
This leaflet helps you and your doctors make these decisions together through an ALL BRAN conversation — Ask, Listen, and Learn about what’s important to you and your wishes, before discussing the Benefits of treatment, Risks of treatment, Alternatives to treatment, and what may happen if No treatment is chosen (Natural progression of the condition).
Shared Decision-Making helps make sure your care fits what matters most to you - your goals, values, and quality of life.
